Pivot in a Minute

In a second, everything can change.

With the instant of a new moment, a great day has the potential of turning into a horrible day or a fantastic one.

“You’re the boss of your own headspace”

Georgia Anne Muldrow

I want to talk about a 1-minute shift. If we are discussing all the ways in which we heal, it helps us to realize we can always pivot or shift ourselves into a better headspace before reinforcing any trauma grooves.

You know the feeling, you wake up feeling relatively pleasant, while lurking very shortly could be a post, comment, or headline that throws your mindset out of alignment with that great morning vibe you had going.

Perhaps a neighbor or family member decides to shower you with bad news, or something important to you was accidentally damaged.

“No,” you tell yourself, “not today!”

Resistance is activated, cortisol starts to produce in the brain and spread its fire throughout the body. In an instant, you may find yourself at the intersection of a good day or a bad day.

The need to shift the perception in the now moment, before it spirals into a terrible day is essential self-care communication to offer the body/mind/emotion.

The longer we maintain in the state of stress, the less we can cope with stress.

It’s that shift.

Between the polarities of positive and negative is a neutral space we can consciously choose.

How do we ‘do’ that you may ask.

In the space of the breath, you can intend positive, negative, neutral, and then keep choosing neutral for one minute. By the end of that minute is it likely you will have gained a broader perspective on your situation.

Pivot in a Minute is an easy to learn the protocol for shifting into neutral.

Try this:

  1. Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart arms loosely by your side and head straight.
  2.  Intend to soften your joints.
  3. Inhale and intend the word positive, focusing on your upper body.
  4. Exhale and intend the word negative focusing on your lower body.
  5.  Inhale and exhale the word neutral while focusing on your abdomen.
  6. Continue breathing light or the word neutral into your crown or belly for the remainder of the minute.

You may notice giving into neutral allows new space for the trigger to unwind.

If that is the case, be curious and gentle with whatever is informing you even if it’s just for one minute.

If we can pull ourselves into neutral for one minute, then we can go from there as a launchpad to perhaps looking at the bright side of things or finding the silver lining in getting back into the groove of cruising along and having a good day.

For over 20 years, I have had the privilege of consulting with Healing Arts Practitioners, Stewards, and Inventors, which has given me access to a lot of leading-edge alternative tools and techniques for healing. It is my affiliation with these great teachers that opened the doors to access more of my potential.

One of my partners is business changed the game when it comes to stress relief.

In 2012 Young Living, the world leader in essential oils introduced Stress Away. Within seconds of my first inhalation, I am transformed with the feeling of calming peace.

Stress Away essential oil blend contains a unique combination of Lime essential oil and Vanilla extract. It’s this distinct mix of Vanilla and Lime that gives Stress Away its unique and pleasant aroma, among other benefits. Stress Away also includes Copaiba, which has a history of beneficial properties in topical application; Lavender, with its refreshing and calming scent; and Cedarwood, which features the powerful plant constituent cedrol. These ingredients are expertly blended with the exotic scent of Ocotea, a unique Ecuadorian-sourced essential oil.

Rolling the blend on the back of the neck, close to the brainstem, can result in lowering of cortisol levels. This is due to a key ingredient Balsam Copaiba resin. Below is a summary of the medicinal use and clinical appliction of Copaiba.
