Is karmic debt real? Can your karma really be calculated?
Your life path is not something you owe someone it is the choice to create your reality.
Karma (कर्म) is a Sanskrit term meaning “action” or “deed”. It is a core concept in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and other Indian religions. It is a belief that the consequences of one’s actions, both good and bad, will determine one’s future destiny.
The law of Karma is one of the 7 universal or spiritual laws that states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Debt is an amount of money that is owed by one party to another. It is usually in the form of a loan or credit, and the borrower is obligated to pay back the amount plus any interest or fees.
Therefore, Karmic debt is not a real concept, but rather an analogy that our actions have consequences. We are responsible for our own actions and the consequences or impacts that come with them. We can choose to learn from our mistakes and make better choices in the future, or we can choose to ignore them and continue to make the same mistakes. Ultimately, it is up to us to decide how we want to live our lives.
As defined, karma is a choice, in any given moment. Such as an action that stands for what we believe in, or that exists almost subconscious, like a habit or a blind devotion. Actions that in turn can create results that may seem circumstantial or exemplified of the very thought or energy we enticed when we took such actions. These choices are very informative to the way we create our experience and reality.
The idea that we create our reality is established by the spiritual law of intention and desire, also referred to as the law of attraction. One of the seven spiritual laws that create a framework for our existence as the human species.
The law of attraction states that we attract into our lives whatever we focus on. If we focus on negative thoughts and feelings, we will attract negative experiences into our lives. If we focus on positive thoughts and feelings, we will attract positive experiences into our lives.
What I like about this spiritual law is that incorporates human emotion as a moving current. It seems that what feelings we carry about our actions can be a determining factor in the results of those actions. I can appreciate the power of feeling emotion as energy in motion that can twist us around and life us up if we let it have it’s way with us. Or we can induce particular feelings through the arts or our personal practice, this creating a new ripple or loop of pleasure or pain. It’s our karmic choice.
Here are brief explanations of the 7 spiritual laws.
- The Law of Pure Potentiality: This law states that we all have access to an infinite source of creativity, power, and intelligence that exists within us. This source is pure potentiality, and it is the source of all creation.
- The Law of Giving and Receiving: This law states that in order to receive, we must first give. We must give of our time, energy, and resources in order to receive abundance in our lives.
- The Law of Karma: This law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. We must be mindful of our actions and the consequences that come with them.
- The Law of Least Effort: This law states that we should strive to do things with the least amount of effort. We should strive to be efficient and effective in our actions.
- The Law of Intention and Desire: This law states that our intentions and desires create our reality. We must be mindful of our thoughts and focus on what we want to manifest in our lives.
- The Law of Detachment: This law states that we must be detached from the outcome of our actions. We must be willing to let go and trust that the universe will provide us with what we need.
- The Law of Dharma: This law states that we all have a unique purpose in life. We must strive to discover our true purpose and live in alignment with it.
I share this with you to demonstrate the freedom of choice and will in all aspects of life. Although often in may feel like we are stuck in a pattern of dampened circumstances or uncomfortable realities, we can take ownership of the efforts to move the energy in a different direction. We can adopt a new attitude that incorporates an awareness of a problem or toxic pattern, yet focuses on the future pacing of an emotional current that moves it into a new beginning or that integrates mending and are patterning reasonable, more enjoyable life circumstances.
It starts with a choice.
