Vibe Check ~ 12.2021 – 01.2022

Beloved Community,

The winter season reminds us that with longer nights, we must take the time to retreat inward. This time offers the opportunity to travel into our inner depths. The Lower World card informs us that avoiding the dark aspects of ourselves and past due to fear will not achieve anything but internal chaos and misconception. Know that you move at your own pace while traversing memories and emotions in the lower worlds/parts of yourself. The four of flints illustrates how these moments of internal contemplation and silence might make us feel bonded and emotionally paralyzed, blurring our vision and creating barriers. Shift your perspective in understanding that these moments of deep meditation are the actual shedding of accumulated energies. The work of internal journeying aligns us with the practice of trusting ourselves. Crossing into these depths is often uncomfortable, so be extra gentle and loving to yourself. Let your spirit guide you and your heart ground you during this cold and introspective season.

contigo,

kim

Decks Used:

Shamanic Medicine Oracle Cards by Barbara Meiklejohn-Free & Flavia Kate Peters

Starry Beginnings Oracle Cards by Cassi White

Yohualli Ehécatl Tarot by Corazón Mexica

My inspiration in drawing for the monthly vibe checks stems from how I’m moved right before I start to pull cards. It’s different and fluid every time. For example, this month, I was called to first pull from the Shamanic Medicine Oracle deck to get the overall energy for the vibe check card spread. From there, I pulled additional cards to get a more clarified reading of what spirit would like for me to clarify through the overall energy. Being able to work with multiple decks has helped sharpen my intuitive channeling and creativity with personalized spreads for people and overall intuitive writing. I don’t rely heavily on what the guide book of the deck describes, but instead rely on my channeling through meditation right before I start to write. Intuition and imagination are key for this!

My choice behind the decks I use has to do with the imagery and approach the creators of the deck take. Being drawn to Indigenous depictions of archetypes and overall energies that tend to focus on elements, animals, and primordial energy align with my spiritual understanding and perspective of how I communicate channeled messages~

Being able to work with the Yohualli Ehécatl tarot decks has helped me understand how the spirit of objects and elements manifest as guides, especially through my cultural Mexica roots. Here, the spirit of Tecpatl (stone-flint) reminds us that before rebirth, we must take moments of silence and acts of self-sacrifice (not being too self- sacrificing) in order to transform moments of internal chaos and darkness. Tecpatl in this card spread shows up as a guide and tool as we take moments throughput this month journeying inwards. With Tecpatl, the often-depicted doubled edged flint, symbolizes how we can either be destructive with our words or offer great healing and clarity with our impeccable words. Working with Tecpatl ultimately reminds us that we have a choice when we practice the act of communication. In this case, we’re asked to draw inwards and reflect on how we internally communicate with ourselves.
